Abstract: This study explores the relationship between pursuing a career in the same field as one’s parent and job satisfaction. Using data from the 2021 General Social Survey, the research examines whether individuals in similar occupations as their parents report higher job satisfaction and if this correlation varies based on sex and prestige level of occupation. Hopefully, this project will shed light on intergenerational career choices and raise awareness on factors that influence Job Satisfaction. The trends found in the data suggest a positive correlation, however, no statistical significance was found with the limited data set.
